It’s pitching time

I spent an awful lot of hours working on a major pitch document this week. Sleazy Partner and I focus on watching the market very closely before pitching. Funny how much your peer law firms’ Juve and Legal 500 descriptions tend to differ from what you actually hear from your outposts within the rival monoliths.

Downside of a pitching week is to spend at least tomorrow in the office doing some real work.

U.S. firms

I met a fellow associate from a U.S. sweatshop today. The formerly jolly guy complained about pulling more and more all-nighters lately. Looked paler than the moon.

A wrecked guy. Will go in-house in less than half a year, I bet.

Narrow Market

In case you didn’t know it: the German blawg market is narrow. Take a look at the participating blogs at jurablogs.com and you will find a bunch of students, some clerks and many solo practitioners. No BigLaw partners and only one BigLaw associate who is said to be fake.

Labour Day

I suppose not only downtown Frankfurt is dead today. Enjoy the holiday, fellow work-bees. Anyone in the office today?
